FAQs: Have a Question ?

What is a standard ?

A standard is a document established by consensus and approved by a recognized body that provides, for common and repeated use, rules, guidelines, or characteristics for activities or their results, ensuring an optimal level of order within a given context.

The application of a standard is not mandatory; however, a standard or part of it may become mandatory if it is referenced in a technical regulation.

What does standardization mean ?

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) defines standardization as an activity aimed at establishing, for actual or potential problems, provisions intended for common and repeated use, with the goal of achieving an optimal degree of order within a given context

Who applies the standards ?

Algerian standards are, for the most part, of voluntary application. However, they may serve as references or be cited in regulations or in the specifications of contracts awarded by the State, as well as by public and private companies and institutions, in which case their application becomes mandatory.

What is conformity assessment ?

Conformity assessment involves a process used to demonstrate that your product, service, or system meets the requirements of a standard.
