Algerian Institute of Standardization (IANOR)

Presentation

The Algerian Institute of Standardization (IANOR) was established as a public industrial and commercial establishment (EPIC) by Executive Decree No. 98-69 of February 21, 1998, amended and supplemented by Executive Decree No. 11-20 of January 25, 2011.

The Algerian Institute of Standardization (IANOR) is responsible for:

  • The development, publication, and dissemination of Algerian standards.
  • The centralization and coordination of all standardization work undertaken by existing structures and those to be created for this purpose.
  • The adoption of marks of conformity to Algerian standards and quality labels, as well as the issuance of authorizations for the use of these marks and the control of their usage within the framework of the prevailing legislation.
  • The promotion of work, research, and testing in Algeria or abroad, as well as the provision of testing facilities necessary for establishing standards and ensuring their implementation.
  • The collection, preservation, and provision of any documentation or information related to standardization.
  • The implementation of international conventions and agreements in the field of standardization to which Algeria is a party.
  • Providing the secretariat for the National Standardization Council (CNN) and the Technical Standardization Committees.

Furthermore, the Algerian Institute of Standardization serves as the Algerian Enquiry Point for Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT), in accordance with the WTO TBT Agreement of the World Trade Organization.
